The moler – and what do you do?

There are two kinds of moler:

The soft moler is easy to flake with an ordinary dull knife. Watch out for sharp knives; it’s easy to cut yourself. In the soft moler, you will only find prints of fossils since leaching has occurred.

The hard moler – also called cement stone has protected the fossils against leaching. Fossil hunting in cement stone requires a hammer and chisel and gloves and protective eyewear. A cement stone flakes often where the fossils are.
